An oral examination is a visual inspection of the mouth, head, and neck, performed during a dental visit to detect abnormalities. Radiographs allow for a more complete examination, helping the Staten Island dentist to detect cavities, problems in existing dental restorations, gum and bone recession or other abnormal conditions within the mouth, head and neck area.
Your gums and underlying bone provide an important foundation for your teeth and dental work, so it is important to keep them healthy. Every mouth contains healthy and harmful bacteria, sometimes the harmful bacteria can infect the gums and form spaces or gaps around the teeth, known as pockets. These pockets are a sign that you may have periodontal disease, the #1 cause of tooth loss in America. The health of your gums can be related to your overall health.
Drs. Klein and Klein perform thorough and detailed periodontal evaluations to help to stabilize your dental foundation an attend to your dental needs. Non-surgical treatments are highly effective and are available at Dynamic Dental. We have a network of specialists if your condition requires more focused attention.
Many sports require athletes to use a Mouth Guard to protect their teeth while practicing and playing. Frequently used in contact sports, the mouth guard covers the gums and teeth to provide protection for lips, gums, teeth and arches. A properly fitted mouth guard can reduce the severity of dental injuries.
Sporting goods stores also offer semi-custom mouth guards, in which the plastic is heated and then the athlete bites on it while still warm to provide some level of custom fit.
Your dentist can make a custom mouth guard by taking an impression of your teeth and then creating a device fitted to your mouth for the highest level of both comfort and protection. A custom fitted mouthguard can be particularly important for athletes who wear braces.
Be sure to bring your mouthguard to your dental appointments so your doctor can be sure it still fits you well.
Drs. Klein and Klein have the skills, techniques, and instruments to ensure that early signs of cancer and pre-cancerous conditions are identified. Many times patients are unaware of the signs. Regular dental checkups with thorough examination of the mouth are essential for early detection.
The ADA and Dynamic Dental P.L.L.C. recommend the following for good oral hygiene:
Brush your teeth twice a day with an ADA-accepted flouride toothpaste. The ADA seal on a product is your assurance that it has met ADA criteria for safety and effectiveness.
Clean between teeth daily with floss or an inter-dental cleaner. Decay causing bacteria still linger between teeth where toothbrush bristles can’t reach. Flossing removes plaque and food particles from between the teeth and under the gum line.
Eat a balanced diet and limit between-meal snacks.
Visit us regularly for routine cleanings, flouride treatments, oral exams, periodontal evaluation, and oral cancer screenings. We strive to ensure patient comfort during dental visits, making each experience as pleasant as possible.
Restorative Dentistry
A dental crown is a dental restoration that covers or “caps” a tooth to restore the tooth to its normal shape and size.
A dental bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by spanning the gap between teeth. It cannot be removed by the patient.
The next best thing to your own tooth. Dental implants offer a smile that looks and feels very natural. Surgically placed below the gums over a series of appointments, implants fuse with the surrounding teeth, bridges, or dentures. Have Drs. Klein and Klein customize a dental treatment plan that suits your needs and verify if you are indeed a candidate for dental implants.
Removable partial or complete dentures consist of replacement teeth attached to gum colored bases. Dynamic Dental can help you design an extraordinary smile with the most modern materials for your comfort and aesthetics.
Inlays and Onlays are used to repair teeth damaged by cavities. Our Staten Island dentist will remove the decayed or damaged portions of the tooth structure and replace with an inlay/onlay depending on your needs.
Cosmetic Dentistry
Tooth whitening brightens teeth that are discolored or stained. Bleaching may be done completely in dental office or the dentist may dispense a system for you to use.
Invisalign® takes a modern approach to straightening teeth, using a custom-made series of aligners created for you and only you. These aligner trays are made of smooth, comfortable and virtually invisible plastic of the highest quality that you wear over your teeth. Wearing the aligners will gradually and gently shift your teeth into place, based on the exact movements your dentist or orthodontist plans out for you. There are no metal brackets to attach and no wires to tighten. You just pop in a new set of aligners approximately every two weeks, until your treatment is complete. With this professional service you’ll achieve a great smile with little interference in your daily life. The best part about the whole process is that most people won’t even know that you’re straightening your teeth.
Veneers are thin custom-made porcelain designed to cover the front side of the teeth. Made of tooth-colored materials, veneers are used to treat spaces between teeth and teeth that are chipped or worn, permanently stained, poorly shaped or slightly crooked. We offer the most recent techniques and materials to fully enhance your smile.
Our doctors are LUMINEERS certified and would be happy to answer your questions about this new, pleasant, painless, and permanent development in smile enhancement.

Additional Services
As a family dentist, scaling and root planing is a non-surgical procedure used to treat gum disease. During the scaling process, specialized dental instruments are used to remove dental plaque and calculus from beneath the gums. Planing is the procedure used to smooth the tooth’s root after the scaling process. Root planing helps the gums heal and reattach themselves to a cleaner and smoother root surface.
Root canal treatments are most often necessary when decay has reached the nerve of the tooth or the tooth has become infected. When root canal therapy is performed, infected or inflamed pulp is removed from the tooth chamber. The inside of the tooth is then cleaned and disinfected before being filled and sealed to limit the possibility of future infection. Soon after the root canal is performed, the tooth is restored with a dental crown or filling to protect the tooth and restore normal tooth function to achieve optimal oral health.
A tooth that can not be saved with restorative materials may need to be removed. Before removing your tooth, the area will be numbed with anesthesia. Our dental professionals provide treatment options for replacement of teeth that have been removed to ensure a healthy smile.
Nitrous oxide, sometimes referred to as “laughing gas,” is an effective and safe sedation agent that is inhaled through a mask that fits over your nose to help you relax. Mixed with oxygen, Nitrous oxide allows you to breathe normally through your nose and within minutes you should start to feel the effects. You may feel light-headed or a tingling in your arms and legs. Some patient’s comment that their legs and arms feel heavy. Ultimately, you should feel comfortable and calm. The effects of nitrous oxide wear off quickly after the small mask is removed. Talk to the doctor about whether nitrous oxide would be a good option for you to alleviate dental anxiety.
If you are concerned about bad breath, there are ways to help combat this unpleasant condition. Drs. Klein can help you review your diet and nutrition, monitor your medications, provide tobacco counseling, clean your teeth regularly, and review your oral hygiene habits.
